Melissa Rails and “Spyder Web”

Friday, March 26th, 2010

Spyder Web is a 6 year old NSH. When he was 2 he dislocated his right front fetlock 90 degress, and damaged his radical nerve. He was hanging from a pipe corral, when we found him his temp was 91 degrees and he was in shock dieing. We put a cast on his leg every week for 6 months, gave him steroids to help the nerve regenerate. For one month he was only able to walk backward, the nerve that tells pulls the leg forward was damaged. I put him on Platinum Performance, Hoof Support, and Ortho Chon right away. Hopes of Spyder recovering enough to be a show horse was slim, but I have been riding and showing Spyder succcessfully for two years now. Last year Spyder and I received high point Training Level Amatuer Rider for Bear Valley Dressage Horse Shows. Thank You Platinum for helping Spyder fully recover from his tragic accident!!!

Joyce Barber and “Libby”

Meet Libby, my 14 yr old Standardbred mare. I rescued her 3 1/2 years ago and our journey began. She was never started under saddle, so we had a lot of work to do as my goal was to have a horse to take trail riding. Well, now we hit the trails as often as possible, and she especially loves the trails in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountains (so do I). She has been on Platinum Performance CJ for over one year; I always get compliments on her beautiful, shiny coat…hmmm, I wonder what contributes to that. Thanks for the wonderful ride Miss Libby.

Hardin Wins $20,000 Grand Prix on Platinum’s Pedro

Santa Ynez Valley, California, March 24, 2010—Platinum Performance (http://www.platinumperformance.com) team member, Kristin Hardin wins $20,000 Scottsdale Spring Festival Grand Prix riding Platinum’s Pedro on Saturday, March 20, 2010.

Hardin claimed victory in the premiere class of the Arizona show, a 1.4 meter jumper class, on her aptly-named 19-year-old gelding Platinum’s Pedro. Although she is no stranger to winning, the accomplished hunter/jumper trainer and competitor doesn’t take it for granted.

“It’s very rewarding to win. I feel very happy for my horse that he gets the accolades he deserves. It’s a great feeling to have him do that well at his age,” said Hardin.

Hardin purchased “Pedro” nine years ago as a horse with the classic underdog story. He had literally been around the world and didn’t have the best reputation. She changed his feeding program, and then his name to Platinum’s Pedro, just knowing that she could make a star out of him. And, that she did; he has proved himself with a nearly perfect show record and lifetime earnings of almost $75,000. (more…)

Wendy Hart and “Sugar”

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

I went in the stall of the sorrel horse, who’d recently been turned over to the Conquistador Equine Rescue and Advocacy Program. I wanted a closer look at the brand on his hip. When I touched his body, hair came away in large clumps. Aside from being emaciated (he weighed in at 600lbs) his whole body was covered in rain rot. I called the Director of the rescue, and volunteered to wash him the next day. Medicated shampoo was provided, and the horse called “Blaze” stood like a champ for 3 hours on the hot summer day in Arizona while I scrubbed, rinsed and repeated. When I was done I sat on an overturned bucket to watch, I allowed him to graze on the few tufts of green grass growing around the wash rack. After munching a few bites, he walked (more…)
